amen so you may not know but where we're standing is the southern steps as he just said as we're entering into uh the temple and uh this would have most likely been the place where peter stood and preached on the day of pentecost so i'm going to read for us acts chapter 2 and just give you one quick encouraging word it said peter stood up with the 11 raised his voice and proclaimed fellow jews and all residents of jerusalem let this be known unto you today and pay attention to my words for these people are not drunk as you suppose since it is only nine in the morning on the contrary this is what was spoken through the prophet joel and it will be in the last days says god that i will pour out my spirit and on all my people then your sons and daughters will prophesy your young men will see calls on the name of the lord will be saved that's verses 14 to 21 there's a passage where he preaches longer but i'm going to skip down to verses 37 through 38 this says when they heard this they were pierced to their heart and they said to peter and the rest of the apostles brothers what should we do and peter replied a simple reply repent and be baptized each and every one of you in the name of the lord jesus christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the holy spirit this is the scene where peter stood and preached to these people the bible records that as you read the next verse that 3 000 men repented and 3 000 men got saved that day they would have likely went down we passed the mikvah right over here they would have likely went down in that mikvah and gotten baptized right there and peter would have had the very first baptism service for the very first church service that was existed in the book of acts and the men that were there said what way as we took in the sites as we took in all the different uh areas where jesus would have stopped and he would have talked and his disciples would have asked him questions lord we got to experience that we saw the wall where you would have came up and we saw where peter would have stood today and preached father my heart is encouraged my heart is overwhelmed as i recently finished preaching the book of acts where we got to see and experience the church the birth of the church but it just doesn't end there god we we have now had the opportunity as acts ends to take on the message of the gospel and to continue to proclaim it forward help us to have the boldness that peter had peter didn't shy away he could have he was he denied jesus he he made mistakes he made problems in his life and yet he put those things away to come forward and to preach this glorious message that we heard lord help us to be bold for you and to share the message of the gospel so that people would ask the
